2017 NYC Marathon: 26.2 for KATA
Run for THEIR lives!
Ken Atkinson’s mission was to find better treatments and a cure for the disease that killed his children. Unfortunately, his life was cut short before he had that opportunity.
Now it is up to his daughter, Allison, her close friends Ryan and Emily, and you, our followers and supporters, to take up the torch, raise awareness and funds for those with Fanconi anemia, support this incredible effort, and watch the KATA26.2 team run for THEIR lives!
We each have at least 26.2 reasons to run.
As Allison trains in Denver, Colorado and Ryan and Emily train in South Carolina, 26 of their training days leading up to the 2017 NYC Marathon on November 5th will each be dedicated to someone fighting Fanconi anemia, or someone who may have lost their battle.
On each of these days, we will introduce you to a new Fanconi fighter, tell you their story, and ask for your support for the runners as they train as well as the FA fighters.
When the KATA26.2 team pounds the NYC pavement in November, each mile of the marathon will be dedicated to one of these FA fighters. We hope you will join us in supporting them.
You can help by supporting Allison,Emily and Ryan:
- Raise awareness of Fanconi anemia and the broad benefits of FA research
- Connect with Families affected by this disease
- Raise money to improve medical treatment, increase life expectancy, and ultimately find a cure for Fanconi anemia.
